How it works

Where the numbers come from.

You enter your lifts, and we show the records closest to your reach across six federations.

The short version

  • Official records come straight from the federation, and a person checks every one before it goes live.
  • Best known results come from public meet results (OpenPowerlifting) where official records aren't available yet. They're clearly labeled.
  • Sources are checked weekly. Nothing changes on the site without a person approving it.
  • Beating a number here doesn't make it your record. Only the federation can award a record at a sanctioned meet.

Technical details

Publication path

A number is not published when it is found.

  1. 01Official source

Configured authority, retrieval metadata, and final URL.

  2. 02Immutable snapshot

Raw content, checksum, parser version, and retrieval time.

  3. 03Normalized data

Exact federation category signature and effective dates.

  4. 04Human review

Anomalies, differences, aliases, and blocking unknowns.

  5. 05Published result

Approved append-only revision with visible provenance.

Source authority

  1. Official primary: federation record database, standards workbook, rulebook, championship page, or results feed.
  2. Official secondary: federation announcement, state-chair page, invitation, or official meet document.
  3. Recognized cross-check: reputable archive used to detect conflicts, never to establish an official value.
  4. Discovery only: clues that can lead to a source, but can never publish data.

Immutable snapshots

Retrieval stores raw content, HTTP metadata, final URL, MIME type, SHA-256 hash, parser version, extracted text where applicable, and a previous-snapshot link.

A changed document creates staged rows and proposed changes. It never silently overwrites the public value.

Human review

Imports move through parsing, alias normalization, validation, anomaly detection, and a side-by-side review queue. Unknown aliases block publication.

Record decreases, large standard changes, missing categories, overlapping dates, stale sources, and unit anomalies require attention.

Historical truth

Published records and qualification rules are append-only revisions. Effective-date queries select the version active on a given day and reject overlapping active periods.

The history links a change to its source snapshot, proposal, reviewer, approval time, and parser version.

Verification statuses

Verified

Current official source, successfully reviewed and approved.

Official · pending review

Official source changed, but the detected changes are awaiting administrator review.

Possibly stale

The source has not been checked inside its configured refresh interval.

Historical

Valid for a previous effective period, not the current value.

Unverified demo

No reviewed official-primary value is available. Demonstration fixtures always use this visible state.

Unavailable

The federation does not publish enough information to determine the answer.

Federation source authorization

Federation information is used only from documented, approved sources. Authorization scope can differ by federation and dataset. Every published value is connected to a source, a review decision, and a permission record.

Public provenance may show the federation, source name, approved authorization status, permitted display type, effective date, attribution, and last verified date. Grantor emails, private evidence, and internal notes stay private.

Federation logos are not used without separate authorization. Descriptive federation-name use does not imply endorsement. Final qualification and record decisions remain with the federation.

What “exceeds” means

Your entered lift exceeds the listed record is a numerical comparison. It does not prove meet eligibility, attempt validity, or official record ownership.

What “attempt” means

You could attempt a new record is shown only when the meet, category, and published increment rules can be verified.

What “official” means

You are the official record holder can only follow from an approved published record revision naming that athlete.

Known limits

Membership, residency, invitation status, late-breaking rule updates, and ambiguous federation wording may require manual review. Officials always make the final decision.

Results are informational. Records can change between source checks. Meet sanction, referee, equipment, drug-testing, membership, and application requirements may apply. No federation endorsement is implied.
